Why this existed

Two-sided marketplaces fail when one side is designed and the other is an afterthought. Both journeys need to be modelled before there is a backend to constrain them.

[ WHAT_WE_BUILT ]

What we built

Role selection at signup routing into two distinct journeys — owners list vehicles, track earnings and manage a profile; renters browse, view vehicle detail and manage bookings. Shared underneath: OTP login, onboarding, a KYC step and a wallet, with a mobile-first component system including bottom sheets.

Questions clients ask

Why model both sides before building?

Because the two sides constrain each other. What an owner must supply when listing determines what a renter can filter on, and discovering that mismatch after the backend exists is expensive. Prototyping both journeys surfaces it in days.

Does this apply to other leasing categories?

Yes — equipment, property and machinery leasing share the same shape: a listing side with earnings visibility, a booking side with availability, and identity verification in the middle.

How much of a prototype survives into production?

The interface and the flows usually do; the mock data layer does not. Being explicit about that boundary at the start prevents the prototype drifting into production by accident.
